The Lord’s Banquet

Awedacity Nation > Devotionals > The Lord’s Banquet

My heart has been locked inside Psalm 23 for a few days but today, 2nd Kings 5:13 had me

2Kgs.5.13 – And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

Liza, if the Lord had asked you to do a great thing, would you not have done it?

When you check different translations, you find ‘great’ (intensity above average) replaced with two words: difficult (needing more effort or skill to accomplish) and extraordinary (very unusual).

Is there a possibility that we’re stuck because God’s instructions come off as basic? It’s so basic it makes no sense to our ego. For me this season, the hardest thing has been the simplest thing: to stop holding back.

Ps.23.5 – Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

For too long, we’ve tried to eat at the banquet of God in the absence of the enemy (trauma, past experiences, insecurities, what people will say, our feelings of self-worth etc.). We have been spending our life’s time trying to eradicate the enemy before we can feel qualified to sit at the table.

For some of us, because the enemy seems to be staring us down, we’ve chosen to eat under the table and pick up crumbs that fall off the banquet table (perhaps dropped by those who dare to eat in the presence of the enemy).

Until we sit at the banquet the Lord has prepared despite everything we have been through, we do not get to see the full results of what it means for our heads to drip with oil and for our cups to overflow.

The promise still stands but the precept also stands
Ps.23.5 – Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Welcome, to the banquet of glory, grace and mercy where the enemy can do nothing but point at you.

Sin Has No Power Over You
byAwedacity Nation

In the name of Jesus, sin will not have dominion over you. You are strengthened by the Spirit of God, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.

May the Lord help you, empower you, and guide you to fully submit to Him in your thoughts, your decisions, your desires, and your daily walk.
