I felt the need to break down the cadre of this blessing. Not only are you blessed, you have spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Literally, there is no blessing God enjoys that you don’t have access to.
Remember your biblical blessings?
- I am blessed in the field and in the city.
- I am blessed in my going out and my coming in.
- I am blessed with the blessings of the womb and the blessings of the breast.
- I am blessed by the heavens above and the deep beneath.
- The blessings of my father have surpassed the blessings of the ancient mountains and the bounty of the everlasting hills.
If you have never consciously blessed yourself, here is the opportunity to do so.
Is there a possibility that you grapple with being blessed because you have not paid attention to the blessings that are already in your inheritance?
Let me show you how biblical blessings can be hidden in simple everyday words
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
The entire Genesis 49 is worth the read
For years, I held onto verse 22 as if my life depended on it. I was used to being behind walls. There were boundary lines that no one ever seemed to cross but I have a wall-scaling blessing in my inheritance. I could sashay away or I could hold that word and take it to war in prayer, in my daily conversations, in my internal conversations, in my singing and in my believing.
However, we struggle to receive blessings as an inheritance because we are rather familiar with curses! Many of us know about the Lord cursing the Earth and causing it to bring out thorns than we know about Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.
Again, God’s word rings through – my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
Will you just wish you were more blessed or will you decide to check your Father’s will (the bible) and see what blessings He has in store for you?
Activity
- Make a list of every area of your life where you wish you were more blessed
- Find Scriptures around those areas and begin to pray and declare them
This speak-your-change resource will help you begin. It is a topically curated list of bible blessings in audio and text form.
P.S.: make sure your daily conversations and internal dialogue don’t contradict your faith talk. It will be hard at the beginning but it will get easier as you speak.
